DXB airport to your hotel: taxi, metro or private transfer?

The three real options, what each costs and when each makes sense, from people who do the airport run every day.

Short answerTake the Dubai Metro Red Line from Terminal 1 or 3 if you travel light and are staying near a station: it is the cheapest option by far. A metered RTA taxi adds an AED 25 airport pickup charge to the meter. A private transfer costs a fixed price (ours is AED 120 for a sedan or AED 220 for a 6-seat SUV, before VAT) and includes meet and greet, flight tracking, tolls and free waiting. It is the easiest choice for families, late arrivals and anyone with a lot of luggage.

Typical taxi fares (estimates)

Dubai taxis charge an airport pickup fee of AED 25 plus the meter, at roughly AED 2 per km. That makes Downtown (about 15 km) roughly AED 60–80, and Dubai Marina or Palm Jumeirah (about 35–40 km) roughly AED 100–130, depending on traffic and the time of day. These are estimates from published RTA rates; the meter decides.

Why a private transfer can cost the same or less

For two or more people going to the Marina, JBR or the Palm, a fixed AED 120 sedan (AED 126 including VAT) is often in the same range as a taxi. It also includes:
